    Welcome

The Cognitive and Media Systems Group (CMS) is intended to provide a convenient context for highly specialized team research on every aspect of Artificial Intelligence, Media Systems and ICT for Education, stimulating theoretical and empirical study, the design and development of models and tools, and the use of research results in innovative applications.

The group was founded in 2007, when the former Computer Science (CS), Artificial Intelligence (AILab), and Simulation and Information Technologies in Education and Training (SITET) Groups decided to merge, aiming to deepen synergies and gain critical mass.

The emergent potential for synergies resulting from this merge led to an organisation of the group’s activities in 4 autonomous but highly integrated and cooperative teams, organised in Laboratories: Ambient Intelligence Lab (AmILab), Computational Creativity and Digital Media Lab (CC&DM), Educational Technology Lab (ET) and Knowledge and Intelligent Systems Lab (KIS).

The group currently involves more than 50 collaborators, among PhDs (14), post-graduation students and researchers, in multiple research projects of national and international level.
